Consensus on Government Action Programme Reached
An agreement was reached today between the executive and legislative branches to enter amendments in the Government Action Plan.
The consensus was reached during the fourth joint meeting which was held between the Government Programme Study Committee and the Government Team.
Representatives Council Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam and Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa co-chaired the session.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Finance and National Economy Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Labour Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, the Parliament Minister Ghanim bin Fadhl Al Bouainain, Legal Affairs Minister Youssef bin Abdulhussein Khalaf, Cabinet Affairs Minister Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, and Information Minister Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Alnoaimi.
Also present were Representatives Council First Deputy Speaker Mp. Abdulnabi Salman and members of the Government Programme Study Committee.
The two sides agree to designated the first priority within the program to become under the title “Raising the standard of living of citizens in a way that preserves the gains of citizens.
They also reached a consensus on adding a new initiative to the program that provides for “development of social assistance provided to citizens, including the inflation allowance,” and “adopting policies that raise the standard of living in a way that preserves the purchasing power of retirees.”
The Speaker commended the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to joint national actions and efforts to implement the economic recovery plans and the Fiscal Balance Programme.
He also expressed thanks to the government team, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa for their keenness on achieving desired goals, in line of the development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa also stressed the importance of continuing joint work with the Council of Representatives to serve citizens’ aspirations and the achieve the development goals led by HM the King.
Cabinet Affairs Minister Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki delivered a presentation outlining the Government’s stance regarding the amendments which were submitted by the Government Programme Study Committee.
The amended program consists of four priorities: raising the standard of living for citizens, justice, security and stability, economic recovery and sustainable development, and government service of quality and competitiveness.
