Representatives Council Holds 6th Regular Meeting
The Council of Representatives today held its sixth meeting of the first session of the Sixth Legislative Term, under the chairmanship of Speaker, Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam.
In a statement following the meeting, Representatives Council’s Secretary-General, Chancellor Rashid Mohammed Bu Najma, said that the Council had approved the report of the Financial and Economic Committee on Decree-Law (44) of 2022 on amending some provisions of the agreement on the establishment of the Gulf International Bank B.S.C. (GIB), annexed to Decree-Law (30) of 1975.
The session also endorsed the report of the Service Committee on Decree-Law (34) of 2022 on amending some provisions of Decree-Law (11) of 1995 regarding the Protection of Antiquities.
The two decrees were referred to the Shura Council.
The meeting was also notified about the letter addressed by the Auditor-General of the National Audit Office (NAO) to the Financial and Economic Committee regarding NAO’s annual report for 2021-2022. The panel shall study NAO’s report and submit its findings to the Representatives Council.
The Representatives Council also approved the following proposals and decided to refer them to the government, as matter of urgency:
1- Compensate employees working in ministries and agencies that are subject to the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) for overtime with cash in exchange for rest hours.
2- Opening the camping season and allowing citizens to camp in the desert areas, according to the conditions and laws and in a manner that does not contradict the work of the oil exploration company.
3- Expanding the Mohammed Jassim Kanoo Health Centre located in Hamad Town and converting it into a general government hospital that includes a maternity ward, an emergency department, and specialised outpatient clinics.
